Hi and welcome to Lesson 5!

The week has flown by... if you've fallen behind, don't worry! All of the lessons are up and available to you forever... and keep posting to the FB group, too! I will still pop in regularly through the end of next week!

Our last project is called "Picasso Dogs 3D." I hope you enjoy it.

• watercolor paper

• stapler

• markers

• watercolors, paintbrush

Lesson 5 Instructions:

  1. Watercolor both sides of your watercolor paper; let dry.
  2. Cut your watercolor paper in half, and then cut one half down to the two shapes shown in the video. 
  3. Fold and staple the body together.
  4. Take your other half of watercolor paper and draw an eye, a second (larger) eye, a tail, an ear, a tongue, and a paw.
  5. Cut out the pieces.
  6. Now attach these parts to your dog body (anything goes!).
  7. Color with markers and watercolor.
  8. Add other elements as needed. Done!

Lesson 4 - Folded Critter-Puppets with Luna

• typing paper (or thin paper), trimmed to a square format

• pencil

• scissors

• markers

• index card

• optional: fancy paper for detailing, glue stick

Lesson 4

Instructions:

1. Fold your paper down as shown, except the last two steps (image from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_fortune_teller):

2. Draw eyes, nose and "tummy" with pencil on Side A:

3. Turn over, and draw brain, heart and tongue on Side B:

4. Optional: Turn to Side A and sketch in ears and round out body; trim.

5. Outline pencil drawings in ink.

6. Color with markers. (And optionally add ears, wings, horns, paws, etc.)

7. Finish the last two steps of the fold, and play! 


Lesson 3 - Taped Rainbow Animals

Today's project is a "rainbow" animal made with tape and oil pastels.

Lesson 3

Instructions:

  1. Using torn painter's tape, create an animal design. Remember to look at the INSIDE SHAPE. 
  2. Don't forget an eye or two!
  3. Take your oil pastels and make stripes of different colors. Stay in the tape "lines."
  4. Use a paper towel to smear the colors to make them softer.
  5. Carefully lift off the tape.
  6. Add details if desired.

Lesson 2 - Folded Butterflies

Today you are going to make some striped folded butterflies.

Lesson 2

Instructions:

  1. Scrape different colored stripes down a piece of paper. Let dry.
  2. Create a butterfly wing "template" or pattern. Cut out.
  3. Mark an "A" side and a "B" side.
  4. Trace both onto your painted paper and cut out.
  5. Draw a line with a ruler for your stapling guide
  6. Place painted wings together and staple; unfold!

  2. Let dry.
  3. Add feathers and details with pencil, markers or colored pencils.
  4. Add shading.
