LESSON 5 SUPPLIES

Today you will need:

-- colored construction paper, about 8.5"x11"

-- acrylic paints

-- small brush

-- selection of oil pastels

ASSIGNMENT: 

1. Pick a sheet of paper and mix a paint color either lighter or darker than you paper color.

2. Paint the edge of the paper, and then divide it in half with a line down the middle (landscape orientation).

3. Paint the outlines of two people, making sure their hands, legs and heads all touch the outer painted edge.

4. Color the shapes with oil pastels.

Today you will need:

-- rocks, leaves, sticks, pinecones and/or anything else found in nature

-- acrylic paints

-- small paintbrush

-- camera or smart phone

-- optional: face from a magazine

ASSIGNMENT: 

1. First, go outside and collect some nature pieces and parts!

2. Now gather your supplies and start moving things around. Make a face! 

3. Use paint if desired.

4. Snap a photo.

5. Repeat!

Today you will do some Leaf Printing with Lynn Whipple!

LESSON 3 SUPPLIES

Today you will need:

-- 2 pieces of white watercolor paper (or other stiff paper), about 8.5" x 11".

-- acrylic paints

-- paintbrush

-- scissors

-- hole punch

-- yarn or string

-- leaves from outside

ASSIGNMENT: 

1. First, go outside and collect some leaves!

2. Prepare your tags. You can print out this PDF and cut out, or you can create your own template. Use the hole punch to make a hole at the tops. Make about 5-6 tags.

Note: Click the above box and the printable pdf will load in your browser window in about 20 seconds.

3. Paint a leaf with  acrylic paint; turn over onto your tag and press down with your fingers. Lift off and let dry. Repeat with different colors and fill up all of your tags with leaf prints.

4. Create bugs, birds and other creatures out of the prints using pencil and markers.

5. Tie a string and hang on a tree!

Today you will need:

-- a piece of white watercolor paper (or other stiff paper), about 9" x 12".

-- 1 pieces of black paper, about 5" x 12"

-- watercolors

-- paintbrush

-- scissors

-- glue stick

-- crayons

-- salt

-- optional: pencil, colored pencils, oil pastels

ASSIGNMENT: 

Today you will create a "night sky" using a crayon resist technique. Once that is drying, you will cut out a cityscape with black paper and then glue on for a complete piece.

Press hard with your crayons, and have fun with your designs!

-- red, yellow, blue tempera or acrylics paints

ASSIGNMENT: 

Today you will create some dogs... "Cubist" style!

Have fun with your drawing, remembering that each and every Picasso Dog will turn out differently, and some might be completely abstract, some dog-like, some a bit strange, and some super sweet. But they will ALL be wonderful and I look forward to seeing how many DIFFERENT dogs we can make using the same set of instructions:

1. Draw an eye. 

2. Turn paper 90 degrees; draw a second, larger eye.

3. Turn paper 90 degrees; draw a nose or snout.

4. Turn paper 90 degrees; draw an ear.

5. Turn paper 90 degrees; draw a tongue.

6. Turn paper 90 degrees; draw a paw or foot.

7. Connect the elements to create your new dog breed!

Then, have fun painting using the secondary colors: Orange, Green & Purple!
