As promised, here is the collaborative giraffe animation!!

For this last day of October, "Multi-Giraffing," I put together a compilition of statements made in the Yahoo groups, etc. — just things that popped out of me during my quick search today. (I'm sure I missed some nuggets, though. If you would like to add anything to this conversation, please leave a comment here!)

Giraffe by Wes Sonheim, age 17
Hello!
This week, I'm asking you to ask a friend or relative to draw a giraffe to be published in our group 'zine.
Pen is best (shows up easier!), but they can use pencil if preferred.
Your job is to make it easy for them -- cheerleading, finding photo references, drawing one yourself for them to copy, etc.
The main restriction, though, is that it should be drawn by someone else!
Be sure to tell them it will be published, and make sure it's okay with them. Also, when uploading the artwork to flickr.com, be sure to give us their name (unless they would like to remain anonymous, that's okay, too).
Have fun!

Hello!
This week you will create a piece of art that has corregated cardboard as it's main "ingredient."
Yes, you are welcome to add paint or whatever else you need/want to complete your piece.
Yours can be a three-dimensional sculpture or a flat piece of art... it's wide open for interpretation.
I look forward to seeing your cardboard giraffes!

Wonderful work for Week 1's "Famous Artist Giraffe" assignment. Keep them coming!
This week you will create a piece of art that doesn't have a giraffe in it, but says "giraffe."
In my above example, I'm not sure I was altogether successful (Steve thought it was an armless man wearing a giraffe towel), but hopefully you get the idea.
This is a chance to be subtle, get abstract, take a risk — and try to say "giraffe" without drawing, painting, or sculpting a giraffe.
I look forward to seeing your problem-solving skills on this one!

I am very happy about this as I have spent the past two years in search of a new style and finally a month ago had a breakthrough!!!!! Such a relief! And even better: my agent likes my new stuff and want pictures to exhibit! So I will be a bit busy and may not get to animation. On the other hand I may - who knows.

Not sure this ties into giraffes, but I thought the art projects were pretty cool and in case there are teachers among you. Also photo 5 is a Dale Chihuly inspired "glass" sculpture. The glue and watercolor looks fun, too.

Well, I managed to animate a giraffe...I wanted to make a .gif file but haven't
had luck uploading. You can see the tester giraffe on flickr and the phase two
giraffe pulling a rainbow from the ground on my website. Please go have a look -
anyone who does animation will tell you - it may look crude, but it took me a
looooooooot of time! But I am fond of it.

Hi Everyone!
I CANNOT WAIT to see what happens this month. Making these two animations was so fun, and won't it be that much more so when we string all of our little shorts together into one collaborative piece?
Don’t be scared! Here's this month's PDF explaining how to do it!
